“The process of making music reminds me of baking. You gather the ingredients, try out a recipe, taste the result, and then think about how to improve it for next time. You master the preparation techniques, experiment with different shapes and flavors, and slowly learn what you like best – just as you do when you compose, arrange, and improvise” “Sound Bakery” is a new ensemble led by Yuliya Kupryianava, alongside her colleagues: trumpeter Jean-Baptiste Rousseaux, bassist Konrad Waldert, and drummer Gianbattista di Genio. For this special occasion, Italian saxophonist Andrea Cardone will join the quartet, bringing the “taste” of the Roman jazz scene to Graz.
At the concert, the audience will hear Yuliya Kupryianava’s original compositions, written specifically for the evening, as well as works by renowned artists such as Carla Bley, Richard Galliano and Jan Lundgren. The music will be complemented by poetry in different languages, bridging the tunes and creating an additional storyline.
